Bem nascido em uma família mourisca influente em Ceuta, território Português no Marrocos, era filho de um nobre comerciante e navegador. Era o quarto de 6 irmãos, sendo 3 mulheres e 3 homens. Sua irmã mais velha fora dada em casamento ainda jovem, tendo pouco contato com Amir na infância. O clã Banu Cassi (Ibn-Qasi) era descendente direto dos Rei Visigodo Cassio, que se converteu ao Islã após se casar com a filha do Emir de Zaragoza. Embora a glória de outrora tivesse ficado no passado de Al-Andaluz, a família ainda mantinha muitas posses e riquezas espalhadas por toda Península Ibérica. Aos 12 anos, Amir passou a seguir o pai em suas viagens pelo mediterrâneo seguindo as rotas de comércio. Mostrava, já nesta idade, facilidade para aprender os diversos dialetos dos povos do Mediterrâneo e além. Quando retornava para Ceuta, dedicava-se ao estudo das línguas clássicas, como o Latim e o Grego. Sua dedicação aos estudos era quase obsessiva.Passava dias trancado em seu aposento ou na biblioteca estudando as línguas clássicas, ás vezes sem comer ou dormir.Aliando os estudos das línguas clássicas com a experiência das viagens com seu pai pelo mediterrâneo, tornou-se um valioso interprete e tradutor.Já aos 16 anos começou a trabalhar como intérprete de caravanas e mercadores que cruzavam o mediterrâneo. Com a morte de seu pai em 1564, seu irmão mais velho assumiu os negócios do clã e Amir decidiu partir de Ceuta, vivendo como interprete pelo mediterrâneo.Passou a viajar não apenas pelo mediterrâneo, mas também por toda Península Ibérica, ilhas Britânicas, Normandia e Norte da África. Com as viagens, adquiriu ainda mais experiência no ofício de tradutor e interprete, ganhando certa fama nas caravanas de comerciantes.Esta fama chamou atenção de alguns nobres influentes e figuras misteriosas. Uma delas, <sire fiel ao Al-Amut para justificar Ressentimento de Sire>passou a contratar seus serviços. Eram atividades estranhas, como traduzir textos antigos ou acompanhar caravanas noturnas pela Europa e Oriente.Mas o pagamento era sempre em ouro e muito generoso. Amir passou a acompanhar seu contratador com muita frequencia, trabalhando quase que exclusivamente até 1568.Neste ano, recebera uma carta de sua irmã mais velha, Layla ibn-Qasi, que vivia com seu marido em Málaga.A carta o convocava para se unir ao exercito de Fernando de Válor ibn-Humeya em Sierra Nevada, contra o Rei Felipe II. Amir pediu ao seu senhorio para ser liberado e visitar a irmã. Seu senhorio não apenas o liberou, como também enviou mercadorias e ouro para Málaga.Colocando-o como chefe da caravana aos 23 anos, o senhorio ainda lhe confiou algo maior: sangue vampírico.Na noite anterior da partida da caravana, Amir foi até os aposentos de seu senhorio e, junto com os papeis e o ouro para viagem, recebeu um frasco com sangue.Seu senhor ordenou que bebesse e que lutasse pelos mouriscos. Amir obedeceu e, na noite seguinte, seguiu confiante a frente da caravana rumo a Málaga.Munido com os poderes do sangue vampírico, o jovem carniçal seguiu para Málaga. No caminho, juntou outros jovens de origem mourisca e os conclamou a lutar.Chegando em Málaga, foi ter com sua irmã, a quem não vira desde a tenra infância. A mesma o recebeu com pesar, pois estava enlutada. Perdera o marido executado pelas forças cristãs. Seus filhos ainda eram pequenos e tivera sua fortuna confiscada pelos catalães. Amir então se alistou entre os revoltosos e partiu para lutar ao lado de Faruk Ibn Faruk, Alguazil-Mor do Rei de Granada. Recebeu treinamento em armas e se tornou exímio usuário da lança curta e do punhal, atuando como Ginete durante a Rebelião das Alpujarras.Em 1571, a Rebelião fora sufocada e os mouriscos expulsos da Espanha. Amir caiu durante a batalha final, recebendo um mortal ferimento de lança.Graças ao poder do sangue vampírico não fora morto de imediato, porém o ferimento era grave demais e em breve ceifaria sua vida. Neste momento um dos Lacaios de seu senhorio o encontrou junto a outros feridos. Alguns lacaios (entre eles varios carniçais) estavam por ali.Ajudavam os mouriscos sobreviventes e embarcar para o norte da áfrica ou Oriente próximo, fugindo das tropas de Felipe II.Lhe deram algumas doses de sangue em pequenos frascos, o suficiente apenas para mantê-lo vivo até chegarem no Oriente Médio.Fora levado até a mística Al-Amut e, lá chegando, fora recebido por seu <sire fiel ao Al-Amut para justificar Ressentimento de Sire>.Observando a gravidade dos ferimentos e ciente que não sobreviveria mais como mortal, seu senhorio o tomou nos braços e lhe concedeu o Abraço.A partir daquele momento e pelos 7 anos seguintes, Amir se tornou um estudante em Al-Amut, se dedicando principalmente ao estudo das linguas.E durante estes 7 anos confinado em Al-Amut, seu ferimento de guerra nunca cicatrizou por completo. Na verdade, até os dias atuais ele permanece. Após os 7 anos de formação em Al-Amut, Amir foi enviado a Europa junto com <sire fiel ao Al-Amut para justificar Ressentimento de Sire> e outras crias.Adotou para si outro nome, Santiago de Ceuta, deixando o nome Amir Ibn-Qasi constar como um dos mortos da Rebelião das Alpujarras. Vagou as próximas decadas por toda Europa, principalmente a Península Ibérica, esgueirando-se entre as cortes da recém criada Camarilla. Acabou fixando refúgio no extremo Oeste, em Portocalle inicialmente, e posteriormente seguindo para Lisboa, onde em 1687 se estabeleceu em definitivo.Atuando principalmente no Bairro da Mouraria, seus serviços incluiam negócios legais e ilegais, tanto com os Brujah da Camarilla quanto com os Lasombra do Sabbat.Estabeleu contatos importantes com Príncipes e Bispos, mediando contratos de seus pares Assamitas entre ambos. Entre os mortais, atuava como tradutor e forjava documentos alfandegários. Em duas ocasiões chegou a cruzar os mares.Uma delas, em 1698, estabeleceu contatos em Guiné-Bissau para o tráfico de escravos africanos, chegando a montar um escritório na vila de Bissau. Em outra, 2 anos depois, foi até Recife e Olinda, no Brasil, seguindo os navios negreiros oriundos de Bissau e estabelecendo uma importante rota comercial.Voltou a residir na Mouraria em 1704, após um naufrágio em um navio negreiro que quase lhe custou a imortalidade. Mas ainda mantinha seu escritório em Bissau e administrava seus negócios á distância usando carniçais. Pelo seu trauma das viagens por mar, chegou a organizar uma viagem por terra em 1753, para observar a construção da terceira Fortaleza em Bissau.Mas devido aos riscos, preferiu ficar na Mouraria até o terremoto de 1755, onde seu refúgio foi subitamente destruído, deixando-o em torpor pelos próximos 245 anos.Despertou apenas no início do ano 2000 após a Cisma em Al-Amut. Uma das crias de seu sire o localizou e o tirou do torpor. Trazia uma mensagem.Seu sire o convocou junto a outras crias para se unir a Ur-Shulgi e renunciar ao Islã. Santiago então seguiu para Al-Amut para encontrar seu Senhor.Ao ter com sire, discutiram bastante e Santiago optou por se unir a Al-Ashrad e os cismáticos. Não porque era um fiel seguidor do Islã, sequer ia a mesquita. Mas sim porque abominava a Trilha do Sangue e se recusava e reconhecer Ur-Shulgi como lider legítimo. Não concordava com seu métodos.Isso provocou profundo ressentimento em seu sire, que fora um dos poucos, e talvez o mais influentes, Vizires que permaneceram fiéis a Ur-Shulgi.Após acalorada briga e discussão por uma noite inteira que quase terminou em derramamento de sangue, Santiago virou as costas para seu mestre e para Al-Amut.Retornou imediatamente á Europa, sob as palavras de ira e maldição de seu sire. Vagou até a peninsula iberica perdido com o novo mundo e suas tecnologias. O tempo em torpor havia sido duro para Santiago. O mundo avançara demais.Avançou tanto que várias habilidades de Santiago haviam se tornado inúteis. Sua rede de contatos também havia sido extinta. Santiago precisou começar do zero.Voltou para Portugal e logo se estabeleceu na Mouraria que, na época, era um bairro violento e repleto de estrangeiros. Ali, começou a se estabelecer. Criou seu primeiro carniçal entre os bandidos locais (o líder de uma gangue de Moçambique) e logo passou a atuar no tráfico de pessoas.Até 2009 permaneceu nas sombras, aprendendo sobre o mundo moderno e estabelecendo esparsas influencias, contatos e aliados. Neste ano, sentiu-se pronto para procurar outros vampiros e através de seus lacaios procurou os represantantes da Camarilla Lisboeta.Tendo passado pela Confissão frente ao Justicar Jaroslav Pascek do clã Brujah, fora Reconhecido como membro da Camarilla e, desde então, tenta se firmar na corte.
